The San Diego Padres visit Turner Field to open a series with the Atlanta Braves on Monday night.
The San Diego Padres are trying to make the National League West a three team race and were on that path with four consecutive victories before falling 4-0 at Great American Ball Park. Starter Odrisamer Despaigne was charged with all four runs on nine hits including a pair of homers over six frames to take the loss. The bats mustered four hits and walked twice while striking out eleven times. The Padres are looking for another quality outing from Ian Kennedy on Monday. Kennedy looked strong in a 7-2 victory versus the Mets with both runs plated on six hits and two BB over six frames.

The Atlanta Braves are in a bit of a slow period and that has kept them floating in third in the National League East. The Braves fell to visiting Pittsburgh 3-0 for their 5th defeat in five contests with the offense failing to make an impact. Starter Alex Wood allowed all three runs on seven hits and a free pass through five frames to drop to 4-3. The Bravos failed to generate any scoring on their six hit, four walk attack with Cameron Maybin going 3-4 with Juan Uribe going 2-4. The Braves hand the ball to Shelby Miller who will be shooting for win number six. Miller suffered his poorest outing of 2015 in a 7-6 loss to Arizona with four runs scored on six hits and a pair of BB over 4.1 innings.
The over is 9-1-1 in San Diego’s last 11 overall and is 9-1-1 in their last 11 on grass while the Padres are 3-8 in their last 11 games as an underdog. The over is 18-6-2 in Atlanta’s last 26 home games and the under is 6-2-2 in their last 10 Monday games while the Braves are 7-15 in their last 22 games as a favorite. The Padres are 10-4 in the last 14 meetings and are 3-7 in the last 10 meetings in Atlanta. Just hoping the Braves score and Miller rebounds…
