The Chicago White Sox and the Houston Astros face off on Tuesday in Chicago in game two of their MLB series in Chicago.
The Chicago White Sox didn’t make a lot of noise at the plate on Monday but they rode a strong pitching performance to a win. Avisail Garcia hit a home run and Jose Abreu, Adam LaRoche, and Melky Cabrera each had hits as the White Sox scored three runs on four hits. Starting pitcher Chris Sale allowed five hits and a run while striking out 14 over 8.0 innings to get the win and go to 6-2 for the season and David Robertson earned his 11th save. For Tuesday’s game the White Sox start Carlos Rondon who has allowed 35 hits and 12 earned runs while striking out 35 over 34.2 innings for a 1-0 record and 3.12 ERA.

The Houston Astros free fall continued on Monday as they fell to the White Sox for their fifth loss in a row. Jose Altuve had two hits and George Springer and Jonathan Villar each had hits as the Astros scored one run on five hits. Starting pitcher Lance McCullers allowed four hits and three runs while striking out seven over 7.0 innings to take the loss and fall to 2-1 for the season. For Tuesday’s game the Astros look to stop the bleeding as they start Dallas Keuchel who has allowed 59 hits and 18 earned runs while striking out 67 over 87.2 innings for a 7-1 record and a 1.85 ERA.
Chicago is 10-3 in their last 13 games against the AL West, 4-7 in their last 11 home games, and 0-5 following a win. Houston is 4-11 against the AL Central, 2-8 as a road favorite, and 14-3 in Keuchel’s last 17 starts. Houston is 2-6 in their last eight meetings with Chicago.
Keuchel has been sharp but the Astros are just in a bad place right now so getting the home team as the dog is the play for me.
