The San Diego Padres welcome the Los Angeles Dodgers to Petco to kick off a weekend series.
The Los Angeles Dodgers have been facing a stiff challenge from San Francisco and are holding their own thus far. The Dodgers are playing well with wins in four of five after completing the sweep of Arizona 7-6 on Wednesday. The bats saved the pitching with starter Brett Anderson allowing four runs on eight hits over five frames with Kenley Jansen serving up a 9th inning homer for a blown save before getting the win. The LAD mustered nine hits and walked five times with Yasiel Puig going 4-4 with a homer and three RBI’s and two runs while Yasmani Grandal also went deep. Clayton Kershaw looks to continue his solid work on the mound when he faces San Diego for the second time in 2015. Kershaw comes off of a dominant 2-0 win versus St Louis where he tossed a one hitter over eight frames and struck out eleven.

The San Diego Padres were putting some pressure on the Dodgers and Giants a week ago but have fallen off the pace a bit lately as losers in three of four. The Padres picked up an eleven inning, 6-4 win at Atlanta Thursday with five late runs and great relief pitching. Starter Andrew Cashner was charged with all four runs on seven hits and four free passes through 6.2 innings for a no decision with five relievers putting up zeros. The bats totaled seven hits and seven bases on balls with Yangervis Solarte going 2-3 with two runs driven in with a run scored. Odrisamer Despaigne opens the series on the mound against the rival Dodgers. Despaigne is looking to shake off a 4-0 loss at Cincinnati where he was charged with all four runs on nine hits and four BB in six innings.
Los Angeles are 6-2 in their last 8 Friday games and are 3-7 in their last 10 road games while the under is 7-3 in their last 10 road games. The over is 11-2-1 in San Diego’s last 14 overall and is 11-2-1 in their last 14 on grass while going 16-5-1 in the Padres last 22 home games. The over is 9-4 in Kershaw’s last 13 starts versus San Diego. I’m just going with Kershaw who seems to be on a roll…
