AT&T Park and the San Francisco Giants host the Arizona Diamondbacks in Friday action.
The Arizona Diamondbacks are in need of a long hot streak as the try to escape the National League West basement. That hasn’t happened yet with the Diamondbacks dropping four in a row after a 7-6 loss at the Dodgers Wednesday. Starter Jeremy Hellickson did not get a decision despite allowing five runs on six hits including two bombs over 3.1 frames with Daniel Hudson allowing a 9th inning run to absorb the loss. The Snakes amassed eleven hits and walked twice with Paul Goldschmidt, Yasmani Tomas and AL Pollock smacking homers. Chase Anderson will be on the hill for his first career match up with San Francisco. Anderson did not get a decision last time out in a 2-1 win versus the Mets with a solo homer given up in 5.2 frames.
USA TODAY Sports
The San Francisco Giants have been making the Dodgers work hard for the top spot in the National League West. The Giants lost some ground in the standings with a 5-4 defeat at Citi Field on Thursday night. Tim Lincecum gave up three runs (two earned) on four hits and three bases on balls through 4.2 innings before Hunter Strickland blew the save with Sergio Romo absorbing the loss. The bats totaled six hits and walked three times with Brandon Crawford slamming a two run homer while Norichika Aoki going 2-4 with a run. Ace Madison Bumgarner faces the Diamondbacks for the third time in 2015 on Friday night. Bumgarne picked up a 7-5 win at Philadelphia last time out with all five runs plated on a pair of homers in eight innings.
The over is 6-2 in Arizona’s last 8 games as an underdog and is 8-3-2 in their last 13 overall while going 8-3-2 in the Diamondbacks last 13 on grass. The over is 7-1-2 in San Francisco’s last 10 overall and is 7-1-2 in their last 10 on grass while going 14-3 in the Giants last 17 games as a favorite. I’m looking for Bumgarner to bounce back from his last outing here…
