The Los Angeles Angels and the Oakland A’s face off on Saturday in Anaheim for game two of their MLB series.
The Los Angeles Angels came from behind twice on Friday to beat the A’s in game one of their series. Mike Trout and Kole Calhoun each hit home runs and Albert Pujols had a hit as the Angels scored five runs on nine hits. Starting pitcher Hector Santiago allowed seven hits and two runs while striking out six over 5.2 innings to not get a decision as Jose Alvarez got he win and Huston Street earned his 18th save. For Saturday’s game the Angels start C.J. Wilson who has allowed 67 hits and 34 earned runs while striking out 64 over 78 innings for a 3-5 record and a 3.92 ERA.

The Oakland Athletics were unable to hold onto leads as the fell to the Angels on Friday. Josh Reddick, Brett Lawrie, and Josh Phegley each hit home runs as the A’s scored four runs on 10 hits. Starting pitcher Jesse Chavez allowed allowed seven hits and three runs while striking out three over 7.0 innings to not get a decision as Evan Scribner blew the save and took the loss to fall to 1-1 for the season. For Saturday’s game the A’s start Kendall Graveman who has allowed 48 hits and 22 earned runs while striking out 24 over 41 innings for a 3-2 record and a 4.83 ERA.
Los Angeles is 6-2 in their last eight home games, 1-5 in game two of a series, and 1-4 in Wilson’s last five starts. Oakland is 6-14 against the AL West, 10-29 as a road underdog, and 4-1 in Graveman’s last five road starts. Oakland is 4-12 in the last 16 meetings of these two.
Wilson hasn’t gotten it done as far as getting wins but the A’s seem to help pitchers who are struggling and expect the Angels to get it done here.
