The Cleveland Indians have been a disappointment this season and they are in fourth place in the American League Central. The Indians are 406 in their last 10 games, 17-15 on the road, and they are 6.5 games behind the Royals in the AL Central standings. As a team the Indians are hitting .254 with Jason Kipnis hitting .335, Michael Brantley hitting .301, and Brandon Moss hitting .255. The Indians pitching staff has an ERA of 4.05 with the starters at 4.37 and the bullpen at 3.43. For game one against the Cubs the Indians start Trevor Bauer who has allowed 58 hits and 29 earned runs while striking out 75 over 74 innings for a 5-3 record and a 3.53 ERA.
Chicago is 6-2 in their last eight games, 10-4 as a home favorite, and 1-4 in Arrieta’s last five home starts. Cleveland is 4-1 as an underdog, 17-36 in game one of a series, and 4-1 in Bauer’s last five interleague starts. Cleveland has lost their last four games against Chicago.
I still see Arrieta as over rated but Bauer hasn’t been good of late so while it is a lean at best I will take the Cubs in this spot.
