Minute Maid Park and the Houston Astros welcome the Colorado Rockies to town on Monday night.
The Colorado Rockies have been tailing off over the past week and that means they are losing ground in the National League West. Early scoring and great pitching helped the Rockies snap a four game slide in a 4-1 win at Miami on Sunday. Starter Jorge De La Rosa gave up the lone run on four hits and four free passes over seven innings to improve to 4-2. The offense mustered five hits and walked five times with Nolan Arenado smacking a two run bomb with Charlie Blackmon going solo. Chad Bettis opens the series with Houston on the mound Monday night in his first ever meeting with the Astros. Bettis is coming off of a 4-2 loss to St Louis where he gave up three runs on six hits and two BB in five frames.

The Houston Astros might be sitting atop the American League West but that doesn’t mean they are playing well. The Astros had lost eight of ten before exploding for a 13-0 rout of Seattle Sunday to win the series. The Stros dominated in all areas with starter Lance McCullers tossing no hit ball for five frames to up his record to 3-1 while four relievers put up zeros. Houston racked up 14 hits and walked seven times with Luis Valbuena going deep with two RBI’s and two runs while Marwin Gonzalez smacked a two run homer. Colby Rasmus and Hank Conger knocked in three runs each while Evan Gattis went4-5 with three runs. Dallas Keuchel gets the call to the mound to face the Rockies for the first time. Keuchel is coming off his second loss by a 4-2 count at the White Sox with two runs plated on seven hits over seven innings.
Colorado are 14-44 in their last 58 interleague games and are 20-55 in their last 75 road games while going 7-15 in their last 22 Monday games. Houston are 1-8 in their last 9 overall while the under is 9-3-1 in their last 13 games as a favorite and is 9-3 in the Astros last 12 interleague home games. The over is 14-5 in the last 19 meetings and Colorado are 12-30 in the last 42 meetings in Houston. Colorado looks dangerous with Bettis and I have no desire to risk money here…
