The St Louis Cardinals continue their interleague battle with the Minnesota Twins Tuesday afternoon.
The Minnesota Twins look to turn things around and make another run at the top of the American League Central. The Twins couldn’t get the job done in a 3-2 defeat at Busch Stadium on Monday night for their 8th loss in eleven contests. Starter Trevor May was charged with all three runs on five hits including a pair of homers over five frames to fall to 4-5. The bats mustered five hits and a walk with Brian Dozier and Kurt Suzuki driving in Byron Buxton and Trevor Plouffe. Kyle Gibson looks to reverse his fortunes when he faces the Cardinals for the forst time. Gibson hasn’t fared well the past two times out with a combined nine runs plated on eleven hits in 13 frames.

The St Louis Cardinals have been winning with their pitching the last few weeks with the offense putting up just enough scoring. The Cardinals continued their winning ways with Mondays win being their 8th in eleven games. Starter John Lackey was outstanding with both runs plated on five hits through eight innings to up his record to 5-4. The Redbirds totaled nine hits and walked twice with Mark Reynolds and Yadier Molina smacking long balls while Jon Jay singled in Randal Grichuk. Michael Wacha draws the start in Tuesday’s game against visiting Minnesota. Wacha is coming off his second defeat of the year in a 4-3 decision at Colorado with all four runs plated on nine hits while whiffing ten over 6.2 innings.
The under is 6-2 in Minnesota’s last 8 on grass and is 6-2 in their last 8 overall while the Twins are 2-6 in Gibson’s last 8 road starts. The under is 8-1 in St Louis last 9 home games while the Cardinals are 43-12 in their last 55 home games and the under is 20-6-1 in their last 27 overall. The under is 10-1-1 in the last 12 meetings. I think Wacha responds from a rare loss and gets the Cards another win…
