The Arizona Diamondbacks and the Los Angeles Angels face off on Wednesday at Chase Field as their MLB interleague series moves to Arizona for game three.
The Arizona Diamondbacks failed to take advantage of opportunities on Tuesday and a few bad pitches meant a loss to the Angels. Daniel Dorn had two hits and David Peralta and Jacob Lamb each had hits as the Diamondbacks scored one run on five hits. Starting pitcher Jeremy Hellickson allowed four hits and two runs while striking out six over 6.0 innings to take the loss and fall to 4-4 for the season. For Wednesday’s game the Diamondbacks start Chase Anderson who has allowed 67 hits and 23 earned runs while striking out 49 over 73.1 innings for a 2-1 record and a 2.82 ERA.

The Los Angeles Angels used the long ball and effective pitching to beat the Diamondbacks on Tuesday. Albert Pujols and David Freese both hit two run home runs and Mike Trout had a hit to set the table as the Angels scored four runs on eight hits. Starting pitcher Garrett Richards allowed four hits and a run while striking out four over 7.0 innings to get the win to go to 7-4 for the season and Huston Street earned his 20th save. For Wednesday’s game the Angels start Hector Santiago who has allowed 62 hits and 22 earned runs while striking out 69 over 76.1 innings for a 4-3 record and a 2.59 ERA.
Arizona is 4-1 against a team with a winning record, 6-2 as a home favorite, and 3-8 in Anderson’s last 11 starts. Los Angeles is 5-1 in their last six games against a right-handed starter, 5-9 against the NL West, and 5-2 in Santiago’s last seven road starts. The Angels are 5-1 in their last six games in Arizona.
This game looks to be pretty tight and while it is a lean at best my play here is the D-Backs.
