The Chicago White Sox and the Pittsburgh Pirates face off on Wednesday at US Cellular Field as they move to Chicago for game three of their MLB interleague series.
The Chicago White Sox are in a tailspin as they lost their fifth game in a row falling in Pittsburgh on Tuesday. Jose Abreu, Melky Cabrera, and Adam Eaton all had hits as the White Sox failed to score on four hits. Starting pitcher Jose Quintana allowed nine hits and three runs while striking out six over 6.0 innings to take the loss and fall to 3-7 for the season. For Wednesday’s game the White Sox start John Danks who has allowed 83 hits and 39 earned runs while striking out 49 over 68 innings for a 3-6 record and a 5.16 ERA.

The Pittsburgh Pirates continued their roll as they won for the sixth time in a row by beating the White Sox on Tuesday. Francisco Cervelli and Sean Rodriguez each hit home runs and Andrew McCutchen and Starling Marte each added two hits as the Pirates scored three runs on 10 hits. Starting pitcher Charlie Morton allowed four hits and struck out three over 7.0 innings to get the win and go to 5-0 for the season and Mark Melancon earned his 21st save. For Wednesday’s gam the Pirates start Jeff Locke who has allowed 76 hits ad 37 earned runs while striking out 51 over 68 innings for a 3-3 record and a 4.90 ERA.
Chicago is 4-1 at home against a team with a winning record, 1-6 as an underdog, and 1-4 in Danks’ last five starts. Pittsburgh is 5-0 against a left-handed starter, 5-1 as a road favorite, and 0-4 in Locke’s alst four road starts. Pittsburgh is 1-7 in their last eight games at the White Sox.
The Pirates are a road favorite and are hot right now but I see Locke getting hit o the road as the Sox might be playing for Manager Robin Ventura’s job so look for them to win at home, something the do regularly and can’t seem to do on the road.
