The Washington Nationals shoot for another win against the Tampa Bay Rays when the series shifts to DC.
The Tampa Bay Rays are the hottest team in the American League East and their reward is first. The Rays took one on the chin Tuesday in a 16-4 setback where nothing went in their favor. Starter Alex Colome was touched for six runs with Enny Romero allowing five more while three other relievers combined for five runs allowed. The offense could not keep up with their eight hits and a pair of bases on balls. Rene Rivera was the offense on a 2-4 night with a homer and three RBI’s and two runs. Matt Andriese makes his 5th career start when he opposes the Nationals on the road Wednesday. Andriese comes off a 7-5 win versus the White Sox where he allowed two unearned runs in 5.2 frames.

The Washington Nationals are looking to go on a hot streak and take over first in the National League East. The Nationals haven’t look all that great at time but are hoping things turn for the better after thrashing Tampa Bay 16-4 on Tuesday for their third win in four contests. The Nats were great in all areas with starter Tanner Roark allowing the lone run on six hits over seven frames. The Nats racked up ten hits and walked five times led By Wilson Ramos with a pair of jacks and four RBI’s with Clint Robinson and Bryce Harpe also going deep and knocking in three. Anthony Rendon and Yunel Escobar combined for five RBI’s as everyone with a bat was hitting and scoring. After rattling off quality starts to begin the season Jordan Zimmermann faces Tampa Bay off of back to back defeats. In those losses he has allowed a combined ten runs and 19 hits 8.1 innings.
Tampa Bay are 6-2 in their last 8 Wednesday games while the under is 20-7-1 in their last 28 road games and is 8-3-2 in the Rays last 13 interleague games. The over is 6-2-1 in Washington’s last 9 Wednesday games while the Nationals are 63-26 in their last 89 Wednesday games and are 5-12 in their last 17 overall. The under is 5-2-2 in the last 9 meetings. I think the Yankees returning home is just what the doctor ordered…
