The St Louis Cardinals look to keep piling up the wins when they take the field at the Minnesota Twins.
The St Louis Cardinals have been masters of clutch hitting and solid pitching which is why they lead the National League Central. The Cardinals pitching was great Wednesday but not the hitting in a 3-1 loss at Minnesota that ended their winning streak at five games. Starter Carlos Martinez gave up two runs (one earned) on five hits and a trio of BB over 6.2 innings which was still a losing effort. The Redbirds totaled eight hits with Jason Heyward going 2-3 with an RBI single that scored Mark Reynolds who doubled. Left hander Jaime Garcia gets the call to the mound in the final game of series versus the Twins. Garcia was dominant in a 4-0 win against Kansas City with a four hit shutout over eight frames.

The Minnesota Twins were battling for first in the American League Central a few short weeks ago but lost eight of eleven despite Wednesday win. The Twins can thank starter Tommy Milone for this one with the lone run given up on five hits through seven frames to up his record to 3-1. The offense provided just enough support on a seven hit, three walk attack that saw Eduardo Nunez go 2-4 with two runs driven in while Eddie Rosario went 2-4 with a pair of runs. A resurgent Mike Pelfrey toes the rubber against the visiting Cardinals on Thursday. Pelfrey looks to bounce back from his worse outing of 2015 where he gave up eight runs on eleven hits in 3.2 innings in an 11-7 loss at Texas.
The under is 13-3 in the Cardinals last 16 games as a favorite and is 22-6-1 in their last 29 on grass while going 22-6-1 in their last 29 overall. Minnesota are 1-7 in their last 8 games as an underdog and are 1-7 in their last 8 overall while going 1-7 in their last 8 games on grass. The under is 11-0-1 in the last 12 meetings and St Louis are 6-2 in the last 8 meetings. Pelfrey is tough to figure out although he has been great in 2015 but I’ll still give the nod to the Cards…
