The Arizona Diamondbacks and the San Diego Padres face off on Saturday at Chase Field in game two of their MLB series of NL West teams.
The Arizona Diamondbacks continue to hover around .500 as they beat the Padres on Friday. A.J. Pollock and Nick Ahmed each had two hits and Paul Goldschmidt had a hit as the Diamondbacks scored four runs on nine hits. Starting pitcher Rubby De La Rosa allowed five hits and two runs while striking out six over 7.0 innings to get the win and go to 6-3 for the season and Brad Ziegler earned his 10th save. For Saturday’s game the Diamondbacks start Robbie Ray who has allowed 17 hits and three runs while striking out 16 over 24.2 innings for a 2-1 record and a 1.09 ERA.

The San Diego Padres continued their free fall as they lost in Arizona on Friday. Yangervis Solarte, Yonder Alonso, and Justin Upton each had hits as the Padres scored two runs on six hits. Starting pitcher James Shields allowed eight hits and four runs while striking out five over 6.0 innings to take the loss and fall to 7-1 for the season. For Saturday’s game the Padres start Tyson Ross who has allowed 86 hits and 36 earned runs while striking out 89 over 80.2 innings for a 3-7 record and a 4.02 ERA.
Arizona is 7-1 against a tam with a losing record, 6-2 in their last eight games, and 14-6 in their last 20 home games against a team with a losing record. San Diego is 5-2 in their last seven game two of a series, 2-6 against the NL West, and 2-5 in Ross’ last seven starts against a team with a losing record.
The total is set at 8.5 but this one shouldn’t go past that but really my free pick is just a lean to the under.
