The Texas Rangers and Chicago White Sox square off at U.S. Cellular Field in Saturday action.
The Texas Rangers weren’t given much of a chance in the American League West but they have played better then expected. The Rangers continued to play well in a 2-1 win at U.S. Cellular Field for their 4th win in five contests. Colby Lewis allowed a solo homer among nine hits over eight innings to up his record to 7-3. The offense posted four hit and walked twice with pinch hitter doubling in Shin-Soo Choo and Elvis Andrus in the 9th after Chris Sale had left with a 1-0 lead. Nicholas Martinez toes the rubber in Saturday’s tilt at the White Sox. Martinez turned in a quality start in a 4-3 loss to Minnesota with three runs given up on eight hits and two walks in seven innings.
USA TODAY Sports
The Chicago White Sox and their season is in peril as the last two weeks have not been kind. Things did not improve Friday as the White Sox squandered an outstanding start from Chris Sale to absorb loss number eight in a row. Sale tossed a two hit shutout with 14 strikeouts through eight frames before David Robinson blew the save and took the loss with two runs plated in the 9th. The bats totaled nine hits but the lone source of offense came in the form of Tyler Flowers 4th homer of the year. Rookie left hander takes the bump for the second time against the Rangers on Saturday. Rodon looks to bounce back from his worse start in which he gave up seven runs on nine hits over 3.2 frames of an 11-0 loss at Pittsburgh.
The under is 9-2 in Texas last 11 games as an underdog and is 6-2 in their last 8 road games while the Rangers are 20-8 in their last 28 overall. The under is 20-6-1 in the White Sox last 27 home games and the under is 19-7 in Chicago’s last 26 games as a favorite. Texas are 3-8 in the last 11 meetings in Chicago. The Rangers are the better team but I lean to the home team here…
