The Tampa Bay Rays shoot for another win at Progressive Field against the Cleveland Indians.
The Tampa Bay Rays are red hot and need to stay that way to maintain their lead in the American League East. The Rays stayed hot with a 4-1 win in the series opener at Cleveland for their 8th win in eleven contests. Nathan Karns gave up the lone run on six hits over 5.1 frames with four relievers holding the Indians off the scoreboard. TB posted eleven hits with Joey Butler, Steven Souza and Asdrubal Cabrera connecting on long balls with Souza scoring twice. Erasmo Ramirez looks to continue his hot pitching when he opposes the Indians. Ramirez dominated Washington 6-1 with five hits and a trio of BB over six shutout innings.

The Cleveland Indians are at a make or break part of the season in which they have to win series and not just a game here or there. The Indians had an opportunity for consecutive wins on Friday but the offense couldn’t get anything going. Starter Carlos Carrasco was charged with three runs on ten hits through 6.2 innings to fall to 8-6. The Tribe managed seven hits with three bases on balls with Jason Kipnis going 3-4 with an unearned run scored. Corey Kluber looks to snap a three game slide when he faces Tampa Bay in game two of their series. Kluber gave up a pair of runs on four hits and a free pass in an 8-1 loss at Detroit.
Tampa Bay are 7-1 in their last 8 road games and are 7-1 in their last 8 games on grass and the under is 19-7-1 in their last 27 road games. Cleveland are 3-11 in Kluber’s last 14 starts and are 3-11 in Kluber’s last 14 starts on grass while going 23-9 in Kluber’s last 32 home starts. The Rays are 10-24 in the last 34 meetings in Cleveland. All I know is if Cleveland is going to win one this is it and you have to decide if they are worth the risk…
