The Baltimore Orioles have a date with the Green Monster when they battle the Boston Red Sox Tuesday.
The Baltimore Orioles were pegged by many as the Team to look out for in the American League East and they are just now looking the part. The Orioles won the rubber match with the surging Blue Jays 13-9 on Sunday with plenty of offense leading the way. Starter Chris Tillman has become a weak link in the rotation and proved it with six runs scored in the second with a pair of homers served up. The offense came to the rescue with 16 hits and five walks with Jimmy Paredes going deep and driving in three while Chris Davis went solo and scored three times. Ryan Flaherty knocked in three and scored twice with Manny Machado driving in a pair as every starter but one had a hit and either scored or drove in a run. The Orioles will go with Ubaldo Jimenez on the bump who will see Boston for the second time. Jimenez beat the Phillies 6-4 last time out with all four runs allowed (three earned) in 6.2 frames.

The real Boston Red Sox that were supposed to challenge in the American League East have shown glimpses of that potential and Sunday was one of those days. The Red Sox were dominant in all areas of a 13-2 rout of Kansas City on the road Sunday. Starter Wade Miley was in top form with five hits and three free passes given up through six scoreless innings to up his record to 7-6. Boston racked up 16 hits and walked four times with Mookie Betts and David Ortiz going deep and driving in two each while Hanley Ramirez went solo. Xander Bogaerts knocked in three while Brock Holt and Dustin Pedroia combined for four runs and four RBI’s as every starter but one posted a hit and a run or RBI. The Red Sox send Joe Kelly to the hill to oppose Baltimore Tuesday. Kelly did not receive a decision in a 5-2 loss at Atlanta where he allowed two runs over five frames.
Baltimore are 9-2 in their last 11 games on grass and are 8-2 in their last 10 games following a win while going 11-3 in their last 14 overall. Boston are 4-9 in their last 13 overall and are 4-9 in their last 13 games on grass. The Orioles are 7-2 in the last 9 meetings in Boston. If the Red Sox were to get a win I think this would be it although as an Orioles fan I hope I’m wrong…
