The San Francisco Giants welcome the San Diego Padres to AT&T Park in an NL West tilt.
The San Diego Padres were expecting to be battling for supremacy in the National League West but things haven’t gone favorably for the team thus far. The Padres fell to Arizona 7-2 at Chase Field and have yet to find their groove despite numerous offseason changes. Starter Andrew Cashner dropped to 2-9 with all seven runs plated (three earned) on four hits and a pair of bases on balls over four innings. SD totaled eight hits with Brett Wallace and Matt Kemp driving in Yonder Alonso and Will Venable who both had a pair of hits. The series opening start goes to Odrisamer Despaigne who faced San Francisco three times in 2014. Despaigne comes off of a 16-2 loss at Oakland where he gave up six runs over six innings.

The San Francisco Giants remain in second place in the National League West following 10-2 defeat at the Dodgers on Sunday that prevented the sweep of their division rivals and put an end to a three game winning streak. Nothing went favorably with starter Tim Lincecum charged with five runs on seven hits through 1.1 frames with Yusmeiro Petit coming on to give up five runs on four homers over 3.2 innings. That was far too much for the Giants eight hit, two walk attack to contend with as Angel Pagan and Joaquin Arias were the only players to drive in runs. Left hander Madison Bumgarner gets the call to the mound to face San Diego for the second time in 2015. Bumgarner has been outscored 3-0 in back to back as the San Francisco offense doesn’t always support him.
San Diego are 2-6 in their last 8 overall and are 2-6 in their last 8 games on grass while the over is 18-7-1 in their last 26 overall. San Francisco are 1-9 in their last 10 home games and are 8-1 in their last 9 Tuesday games while the under is 10-3 in Bumgarner’s last 13 Tuesday starts. San Francisco are 11-4 in Bumgarner’s last 15 starts against San Diego. Despaigne has allowed one run in three starts in this match up but I’d do something small on the Giants at home…
