The Seattle Mariners and the Kansas City Royals face off on Wednesday in game three of their MLB series at Safeco Field.
The Seattle Mariners got revenge for their loss on Monday as they blanked the Royals in Seattle. Logan Morrison and Dustin Ackley each hit home runs and Robinson Cano and Seth Smith each had two hits as the mariners scored seven runs on 10 hits. Starting pitcher Mike Montgomery allowed four hits and struck out 10 going the full nine innings and getting the win to go to 2-2 for the season. For Wednesday’s game the Mariners start Roenis Elias who has allowed 64 hits and 27 earned runs while striking out 55 over 68.1 innings for a 4-4 record and a 3.56 ERA.

The Kansas City Royals didn’t look like the AL Central leaders on Tuesday, as they had no answers in Seattle. Mike Moustakas, Kendrys Morales, and Salvador Perez each had hits as the Royals failed to score on four hits. Starting pitcher Jeremy Guthrie allowed nine hits and six runs while striking out three over 5.0 innings to take the loss and fall to 5-5 for the season. For Sunday’s game the Royals start Danny Duffy who has allowed 46 hits and 25 earned runs while striking out 30 over 38.1 innings for a 2-3 record and a 5.87 ERA.
Seattle is 4-1 in Wednesday games, 3-8 in game three of a series, and 1-7 in Elias last eight home starts. Kansas City is 20-7 against the AL West, 6-3 in their last nine games, and 2-5 in Duffy’s last seven road starts. Kansas City is 3-8 in the last 11 meetings of these two.
Duffy is coming off of the DL but before he went on it he was awful and until I see he is right I have to go with Seattle here.
