The Texas Rangers and Oakland Athletics continue their series on Wednesday night.
The Oakland Athletics are trying to rebound from a slow start to 2015 and be pertinent in the American League West. The Athletics took a step in the right direction with an 8-6 win at Texas to give themselves a three game winning streak. Starter Jesse Chavez picked up the win despite allowing five runs on eight hits over five frames before the pen restored order. The A’s racked up eleven hits and walked twice with Josh Phegley going deep with three RBI’s and two runs while Ben Zobrist left the yard and knocked in two and scored twice. The Athletics turn to Kendall Graveman on the bump for his second meeting with Texas this season. Graveman was a tough luck 3-1 loser to San Diego last time out with two runs plated on solo homers in seven frames.

The Texas Rangers have been a bit of a surprise thus far and if they want to stay in the American League West picture losing streaks have to be avoided. The Rangers have dropped four of five with the loss as the work on the mound cost them with starter Chi Chi Gonzalez coughing up a 5-2 lead. Gonzalez was charged with six runs on eight hits through 5.2 frames to fall to 2-2 with Keone Kela allowing two runs. The Rangers put together an eleven hit, four walk attack that saw Rougned Odor go deep with two RBI’s while Elvis Andrus ripped three hits and knocked in a pair and scored. Veteran left hander Wandy Rodriguez toes the rubber versus the Athletics for the first time in his career. Rodriguez struggled at times in a 5-3 win at the Dodgers with all three runs allowed on nine hits in 5.1 innings.
Oakland are 6-2 in their last 8 overall and are 6-2 in their last 8 games on grass while the Athletics are 6-14 in their last 20 Wednesday games. The under is 16-5 in the Rangers last 21 overall and is 16-5 in their last 21 on grass while Texas are 21-10 in their last 31 overall. Oakland are 12-4 in the last 16 meetings in Texas and the over is 5-2-1 in the last 8 meetings. I don’t see a huge edge here so perhaps the better odds for a small interest…
