The Colorado Rockies and the Arizona Diamondbacks face off on Thursday at Coors Field as they close out their MLB series of National League West series.
The Colorado Rockies appeared to be on their way to a win on Wednesday when they blew the lead and lost to Arizona. Nick Hundley hit a home run and Charlie Blackmon and Wilin Rosrio each had two hits as the Rockies scored seven runs on eight hits. Starting pitcher David Hale allowed eight hits and five runs while striking out two over 4.2 innings to not get a decision as John Axford blew the save and took the loss. For Thursday’s game the Rockies start Jorge De La Rosa who has allowed 53 hits and 32 earned runs while striking out 53 over 52.2 innings for a 4-3 record and a 5.47 ERA.

The Arizona Diamondbacks never gave in on Wednesday as they came from behind to beat the Diamondbacks. Paul Goldschmidt hit a home run, Yosmany Tomas had four hits, and Jacob Lamb and Nick Ahmed each had two hits as the Diamondbacks scored eight runs on 13 hits. Starting pitcher Allen Webster allowed six hits and five runs, three earned, while striking out three over 4.1 innings to not get a decision as Daniel Hudson got the win to go to 2-2 for the season and Brad Ziegler earned his 11th save. For Thursday’s game the Diamondbacks start Rubby De La Rosa who has allowed 89 hits and 49 earned runs while striking out 83 over 89 innings for a 6-3 record and a 4.96 ERA.
Colorado is 4-10 in their last 14 games, 1-5 in game three of a series, and 5-1 in De La Rosa’s last six starts. Arizona is 5-1 in game three of a series, 6-2 against the NL West, and 4-1 in De La Rosa’s last five road starts. Arizona is 5-1 in their last six games against Colorado.
Arizona has the momentum coming in but the Rockies have their stopper in who simply knows how to win games at Coors Field and I give him and the Rockies the nod here but it is just a lean.
