The San Francisco Giants bounced back from Tuesday’s loss by beating the Padres on Wednesday. Buster Posey hit a Grand Slam home run and Gregor Blanco and Andrew Susac each had two hits as the Giants scored six runs on six hits. Starting pitcher Ryan Vogelsong allowed five hits and struck out four over 6.0 innings to get the win and go to 6-5 for the season. For Thursday’s game the Giants start Christopher Heston who has allowed 84 hits and 36 earned runs while striking out 73 over 84.2 innings for a 7-5 record and a 3.83 ERA.

The San Diego Padres left their bats at home on Wednesday as they lost on Wednesday in San Francisco. Justin Upton had two hits and Yonder Alonso and Will Middlebrooks each had hits as the Padres didn’t score on five hits. Starting pitcher Ian Kennedy allowed five hits and six runs while striking out six over 6.0 innings to take the loss and fall to 4-6 for the season. For Thursday’s game the Padres start James Shields who has allowed 90 hits and 39 earned runs while striking out 109over 93.2 innings for a 7-1 record and a 3.75 ERA.
San Francisco is 15-6 following a win, 2-7 at home against a team with a losing record, and 6-2 in Heston’s last eight starts. San Diego is 11-4 following a loss, 3-7 in their last 10 gams, and 7-3 in Shields’ last 10 starts. San Diego is 2-5 in their last seven games in San Francisco.
