The Houston Astros and the New York Yankees face off on Friday at Minute Maid Park for game two of their MLB series.
The Houston Astros got their series with the Yankees off on the right foot by winning game one on Thursday. Jose Altuve had three hits, Evan Gattis had two hits, and Claby Rasmus had a hit as the Astros scored four runs on seven hits. Starting pitcher Dallas Keuchel allowed six hits and struck out 12 over 9.0 scoreless innings to get the win and go to 9-3 for the season. For Friday’s game the Astros start Vincent Vlasquez who has allowed 12 hits and six runs while striking out 17 over 13 innings for a 4.15 ERA.

The New York Yankees had few answers on offense as they lost to the Astros on Thursday. Chris Young and Carlos Beltran had two hits each and Alex Rodriguez had a hit as the Yankees failed to score on six hits. Starting pitcher Adam Warren allowed five hits and three runs, two earned, while striking out four over 5.2 innings to take the loss. For Friday’s game the Yankees start Nathan Eovaldi who has allowed 100 hits and 42 earned runs while striking out 54 over 76.1 innings for a 6-2 record and a 4.95 ERA.
Houston is 5-1 in their last six home games, 1-4 in their last five Friday games, and 1-4 against the AL East. New York is 6-1 against the AL west, 1-5 in their last six road games, and 4-1 in Eovaldi’s last five starts on 5 days rest. New York is 7-3 in their last 10 games in Houston.
The Astos got into the Yankees heads on Thursday and I can see it carrying over into this one.
