The Los Angeles Angels and Seattle Mariners continue their series on Saturday night.
The Seattle Mariners have struggled over the past week and need to turn things around to avoid fall too far back in the American League West race. The Mariners picked up a game in the standings with a 3-1 win at the Angels in the series opener Friday. It was all pitching with Taijuan Walker giving up the only run on seven hits over seven frames to win it. The M’s mustered nine hits and walked three times with Robinson Cano going solo while Nelson Cruz and Brad Miller driving in a run each. Left hander JA Happ gets the call to the mound to face the Angels for the first time in 2015. Happ fell to visiting Houston 6-2 last time out with three runs plated (two earned) on seven hits and two BB in five frames.

The Los Angeles Angels need a few wins to separate themselves from the .500 mark and pick up ground in the American League West. Friday’s series opening defeat dropped the Angels to .500 as the offense never got their feet under them. In the process Matt Shoemaker absorbed the loss with two runs plated on seven hits through seven innings pitched. Los Angeles posted nine hits and a BB with Mike Trout going 3-4 with his 19th long ball while David Freese went 2-4. Garrett Richards shoots for his 4th consecutive quality start when he opposes the Mariners for the second time. Richards dropped a 3-2 decision at Oakland in his last outing with all three runs allowed on eight hits over six innings.
The over is 6-1-1 in Richards' last 8 Saturday starts while the Angels are 22-8 in Richards' last 30 home starts and are 20-8 in Richards' last 28 starts. The under is 6-2 in the last 8 meetings. I know the Angels have the better record but they don’t look great right now so use some caution…
