The Milwaukee Brewers shoot for another win against the visiting Minnesota Twins Saturday.
The Minnesota Twins are holding on to second in the American League Central although they haven’t been playing well. The Twins took one on the chin in Friday’s 10-4 defeat at Miller Park where neither the arms or bats were effective. Starter Trevor May was charged with six runs (five earned) on six hits over 1/3 of an inning before Alex Meyer gave up four runs in 1.2 innings. The Twins mustered seven hits with Trevor Plouffe going 2-4 with a homer and two RBI’s while Brian Dozier went solo. Minnesota goes with Kyle Gibson on the bump for the game two start at Miller Park. Gibson has dropped four in a row following an 8-0 loss to the Cubs with two runs allowed on six hits and a trio of BB over five frames.

The Milwaukee Brewers and winning haven’t been mentioned in the same sentence very often this year but perhaps something is in the wind after Friday’s victory was their third in four games. Starter Kyle Lohse did just well enough to win with all four runs given up on six hits including a pair of long balls through six innings. The Brew Crew managed 12 hits and walked three times that featured homers and two RBI’s from Gerardo Parra and Aramis Ramirez while Scooter Gennett went solo and Jean Segura singled in two runs. Matt Garza looks to work out the kinks when he opposes Minnesota for the second time on the year. Garza hass been hammered in back to back defeats where he allowed 13 earned runs on 26 hits in 12 innings.
The under is 7-1-1 in Minnesota’s last 9 interleague games and the Twins are 1-7 in Gibson’s last 8 interleague starts while going 2-7 in Gibson’s last 9 road starts. Milwaukee are 3-9 in their last 12 overall and are 3-9 in their last 12 games on grass while going 3-7 in their last 10 games as a favorite. The over is 6-1-2 in the last 9 meetings in Milwaukee and is 14-6-2 in the last 22 meetings. Neither pitcher has done anything of late that gives me confidence so weigh the risks…
