The Colorado Rockies pay a rare visit to O.co Coliseum to begin a weekday series with the Oakland Athletics Monday.
The Colorado Rockies have been playing well as of late and need consistency as opposed to hot streaks and cold streaks. The Rockies offense never got going in Sunday’s 6-3 loss at San Francisco which has the team staring at consecutive defeats. Kyle Kendrick was charged with five runs on eight hits including a pair of long balls over 5.2 frames to absorb the loss. The Rockies couldn’t score enough on their eight hit, two walk attack that saw Nolan Arenado go 2-4 with a pair of bombs and three RBI’s. David Hale draws the series opening start against Oakland who he sees for the first time in his career. Hale has struggled in three straight outings with a combined 14 runs scored on 22 hits in 15.2 innings.

The Oakland Athletics need to bounce back from a losing weekend against Kansas City and start another hot streak. After winning five in a row the Athletics have now dropped three straight after a 5-3 defeat at the hands of visiting Kansas City. Starter Jesse Chavez was charged with three runs on six hits and a pair of BB before Edward Mujica allowed two more over one inning. The A’s totaled eleven hits with Ben Zobrist going 2-4 with an RBI and run while Josh Reddick and Ike Davis drove in a run each. Kendall Graveman shoots for consecutive victories when he meets Colorado for the first time. Graveman defeated Texas 8-2 last time out with both runs scored on eight hits over seven frames.
The over is 10-2 in Colorado’s last 12 on grass and is 10-2 in their last 12 overall while the Rockies are 14-48 in their last 62 interleague games. The over is 8-2 in Oakland’s last 10 Monday games and the Athletics are 7-2 in their last 9 Monday games while the over is 15-6-5 in their last 26 interleague games. I think Oakland has a slight edge here but I’m not paying the juice against a team that can really hit…
