The Kansas City Royals shoot for a win at Minute Maid Park against the Houston Astros Wednesday.
The Kansas City Royals have managed to limit losing streaks which is why they lead the American League Central. The Royals fell to the Astros by a 4-0 count on Tuesday as their generally strong offense stalled and the pitching needed some help. Starter Danny Duffy fell to 2-4 with all four runs given up on six hits and a pair free passes over 6.2 innings of work. KC managed eight hits but failed to draw a walk with Lorenzo Cain going 3-4 with a pair of doubles. Edinson Volquez gets the call to the mound at Minute Maid Park on Wednesday. Volquez has won four in a row after defeating Oakland on the road with one run scored on three hits in seven frames.

The Houston Astros seem to follow a slow period with a hot streak and that looks to be the case once again. The Astros have won three straight following Tuesday’s victory which featured outstanding work on the mound from Dallas Keuchel. Keuchel threw a seven hit shutout over eight frames and struck out seven to improve to 10-3. The Stros posted six hits and walked twice with George Springer going deep with a pair of RBI’s and two runs. Rookie Vincent Velasquez toes the rubber for his 5th career start when he opposes Kansas City. Valasquez lost to the Yankees with a pair of runs given up on five hits over 6.1 innings pitched.
The over is 8-3-3 in Kansas City’s last 14 overall and is 8-3-3 in their last 14 on grass while the under is 7-3-3 in the Royals last 13 games as an underdog. The over is 6-2-2 in Houston’s last 10 games as a favorite while the Astros are 6-2 in their last 8 home games and the under is 11-4-1 in their last 16 Wednesday games. The Royals look like they have the edge on the mound and if the bats can do something I think they can win…
