The Arizona Diamondbacks and the Colorado Rockies face off on Sunday as they close out their series in Arizona.
The Arizona Diamondbacks needed extra innings on Friday to beat the Rockies but on Saturday they got it done in regulation. A.J. Pollock and Jarrod Saltalamcchia each had two hits and Yasmany Tomas had a hit as the Diamondbacks scored seven runs on 10 hits. Starting pitcher Patrick Corbin allowed eight hits and two runs while striking out three over 5.0 innings to get his first win since 2013 in his first action since then. For Sunday’s game the Diamondbacks start Rubby De La Rosa who has allowed 100 hits and 52 earned runs while striking out 94 over 101.2 innings for a 6-3 record and a 4.60 ERA.

The Colorado Rockies lost four the fourth time in a row as they dropped Saturday’s game in Arizona. D.J. LeMahieu had three hits, Charlie Blackmon had two hits, and Troy Tulowitzki had a hit as the Rockies scored three runs on 10 hits. Starting pitcher David Hale allowed five hits and four runs, three earned, while striking out four over 5.0 innings to take the loss. For Sunday’s game the Rockies start Jorge De La Rosa who has allowed 61 hits and 33 earned runs while striking out 60 over 64.2 innings for a 5-3 record and a 4.59 ERA.
Arizona is 7-0 as a home favorite, 6-1 against a team with a losing record, and 4-1 in De La Rosa’s last five starts following a team loss in their previous game. Colorado is 4-1 in game four of a series, 23-64 in their last 87 road games, and 15-7 in De La Rosa’s last 22 Sunday starts. Colorado is 2-8 in their last 10 games against Arizona.
The two teams had this exact matchup two weeks ago and Colorado got the best of it and I look for them to do the same here.
