The Kansas City Royals and the Minnesota Twins face off on Sunday at Kauffman Stadium in game four of their MLB series on American League Central teams.
The Kansas City Royals rallied on Friday to beat the Twins but they couldn’t repeat the feat on Saturday as they took the loss. Lorenzo Cain and Alcides Escobar each had two hits and Eric Hosmer added a hit as the Twins scored three runs on nine hits. Starting pitcher Joe Blanton allowed nine hits and four runs while striking out four over 5.0 innings to take the loss and fall to 2-2 for the season. For Sunday’s game the Royals start Danny Duffy who has allowed 60 hits and 30 runs while striking out 40 over 49.2 innings for a 2-4 record and a 5.44 ERA.

The Minnesota Twins jumped out to a first inning lead and never trailed grabbing the win at KC on Saturday. Joe Mauer had four hits including a home run, Trevor Plouffe had three hits, and Eddie Rosario and Danny Santana each had two hits as the Twins scored five runs on 13 hits. Starting pitcher Mike Pelfrey allowed seven hits and three runs while striking out three over 4.0 innings to not get a decision as Brian Duensing got the win and Glen Perkins earned his 27th save. For Sunday’s game the Twins start Ervin Santana who makes his first start for the Twins as he returns from an 80-game suspension after pitching for the Braves last season.
Kansas City is 10-3 as a favorite, 1-5 in their last six games, and 17-7 in Duffy’s last 24 starts as a favorite. Minnesota is 4-0 in game four of a series, 4-7 in their last 11 road games, and 6-11 in their last 17 games against a team with a winning record. Minnesota is 8-17 in their last 25 games in Kansas City.
I expect the hitters to get the best of this one as both of these teams can hit and both of these pitchers can be had. I also have a play on the winning team and I will post that in the Premium Area as well as on the App.
