The Los Angeles Dodgers and the New York Mets face off on Sunday for game three of their MLB series.
The Los Angeles Dodgers bounced back from Friday’s disappointing loss to beat the Mets on Saturday. Adrian Gonzalez hit a home run and Howie Kendrick, Yasmani Grandal, and Alberto Jose Callespo each had two hits as the Dodgers scored four runs on 10 hits. Starting pitcher Zack Greinke allowed four hits and striuck out four to get the win and raise his record to 7-2 and to extend his scoreless streak to 27.2 innings and J.P. Howell earned the save. For Sunday’s game the Dodgers start Michael Bolsinger who has allowed 53 hits and 19 earned runs while striking out 59 over 62 innings for a 4-2 record and a 2.76 ERA.

The New York Mets scored a few late runs on Saturday to dress up the score but the result was still a loss to the Dodgers. Wilmer Flores had three hits, Kevin Plawecki had two hits, and Curtis Granderson had a hit as the Mets scored three runs on nine hits. Starting pitcher Matt Harvey allowed seven hits and three runs while striking out four over 5.0 innings to take the loss and fall to 7-6 for the season. For Sunday’s game the Mets start Steven Matz who in addition to going 3 for 4 at the plate in his first start allowed five hits and two runs while striking out six over 7.2 innings to get the win against the Reds.
Los Angeles is 4-0 in their last three game three of a series, 5-2 against a left-handed starter, and 4-1 in Bolsinger’s last five home starts. New York is 4-1 in their last five Sunday games, 4-10 against a right-handed starter, and 4-24 as an underdog. New York is 2-7 in their last nine games in LA.
We can’t count on Matz being as good as he was in his first start but we know Bolsinger is regressing and the Mets have been tougher this series and with Cuddyer back in the starting lineup for this one it should be enough to get the Mets the win here.
