The Tampa Bay Rays make the trip to Kauffman Stadium to begin a series with the Kansas City Royals.
The Tampa Bay Rays have been something of a free fall since dropping out of first in the American League East. The Rays had slumped to losses in nine of ten before pounding the Yankees in New York 8-1. Erasmo Ramirez held the Yanks in check with the lone run allowed on three hits and a trio of BB over six innings to up his record to 7-3. The offense totaled nine hits and walked five times with James Loney, Logan Forsythe and Curt Casali driving in two runs each while Evan Longoria scored twice. Tampa Bay is slated to send Alex Colome to the hill for his first career start against Kansas City. Colome suffered an 8-1 loss to Cleveland in his last outing with five runs allowed on eight hits over seven frames.

KC managed just four hits and four bases on balls with Alex Gordon going solo with Eric Hosmer and Drew Butera driving in runs. Edinson Volquez looks to get back in the win column when Tampa Bay visits Monday. Volquez was hit hard in a 6-5 loss at Houston with five runs scored on eight hits and a pair of homers in five innings.
The under is 9-2 in Tampa Bay’s last 11 on grass and is 23-8-1 in the Rays last 32 road games while going 23-9 in their last 32 games as an underdog. Kansas City are 10-3 in their last 13 games as a favorite and are 9-3 in their last 12 Monday games while the over is 6-2-2 in the Royals last 10 Monday games. Tampa Bay are 1-8 in the last 9 meetings in Kansas City and are 3-10 in the last 13 meetings. Neither team is playing well so not a real decisive edge to look at…
