The Oakland Athletics continue their series in the Big Apple against the New York Yankees.
The Oakland Athletics have been playing better then they had to kick off the season but I’m not sure if they have the talent to challenge in the American League West. The Athletics kicked off their series at New York with a 4-3, ten inning win in Sonny Gray’s return from food poisoning. Gray allowed all three runs on six hits three BB over seven frames with three relievers putting up zeros. The A’s logged eight hits with Billy Butler and Brett Lawrie going deep. Lefty Scott Kazmir gets the call to the mound to take on the Yankees in Wednesday action. Kazmir comes off of a 4-0 victory over the Mariners where he gave up just two hits in eight shutout innings.

The New York Yankees might sit atop the American League East but the division is all bunched up and any team can take over. The Yankees have now dropped back to back contests after Tuesday’s defeat. Starter Nathan Eovaldi was charged with two runs on six hit through 5.1 innings with Dellin Betances surrendering a solo bomb to absorb the loss. The Yanks totaled six hits and walked five times with Brian McCann, Garrett Jones and Didi Gregorius driving in runs. Veteran left hander CC Sabathia gets Wednesday’s start against the visiting Athletics. Sabathia has struggled the last two times out with a combined ten runs scored on 14 hits including four homers over 12 frames.
The under is 8-1-1 in Kazmir’s last 8 starts overall. Over is 8-1-1 in NYY last 10 home games. The under is 8-2 in New York’s last 10 Wednesday games while the Yankees are 14-5 in their last 19 home games. This looks like a tough one but I’ll go with the better odds…
