The San Francisco Giants and the New York Mets face off on Wednesday at AT&T Park in game three if their MLB series.
The San Francisco Giants ended their losing streak as they beat the Mets on Tuesday. Gregor Blanco had three hits, Joe Panik had two hits, and Hunter Pence had a hit as the Giants scored three runs on 10 hits. Starting pitcher Matt Cain allowed two hits and struck out seven over 6.0 innings to get the win and raise his record to 1-1 for the season and Santiago Casilla earned his 21st save. For Wednesday’s game the Giants start Jake Peavy who allowed three hits and two runs while striking out four over 6.1 innings taking the loss coming off of the DL in his last start.

The New York Mets just couldn’t generate much offense on Tuesday as they lost in San Francisco. Kevin Plawecki had two hits and John Mayberry and Curtis Granderson each had hits as the Mets didn’t score on four hits. Starting pitcher Bartolo Colon allowed 10 hits and three runs, two earned, while striking out four over 6.0 innings to take the loss and fall to 9-7 for the season. For Wednesday’s game the Mets start Jacob deGrom who has allowed 82 hits and 27 earned runs while striking out 102 over 105.2 innings for a 8-6 record and a 2.30 ERA.
San Francisco is 10-2 as a home underdog, 6-12 in their last 18 home games, and 0-5 in Peavy’s last five starts as an underdog. New York is 41-17 as a favorite, 7-20 in their last 27 road games, and 12-4 in deGrom’s last 16 starts as a favorite. New York is 3-10 in the last 13 meetings with San Francisco.
