The Arizona Diamondbacks visit Citi Field to battle the New York Mets in Friday action.
The Arizona Diamondbacks have been getting both their bats and arms on the same page for the past week or so and the result has been wins in five of six. The Diamondbacks downed the Rangers 7-4 on Wednesday with the pen and offense doing most of the heavy lifting. Starter Jeremy Hellickson gave up a pair of runs on six hits over four frames with Andrew Chafin giving up a pair in 1.2 innings before four reliever put up zeros. The Snakes took care of business at the plate with nine hits and five walks with Welington Castillo going deep and driving in two while AJ Pollock homered and knocked in three with a pair of runs. Chase Anderson will be looking for back to back wins after knocking off Colorado 4-3 last time out. Anderson allowed three runs on three hits and a pair of BB over six innings pitched.
USA TODAY Sports
The New York Mets are trying to regain their footing and track down Washington for first in the National League East. The Mets have three of four capped off by a 4-1 victory at San Francisco behind great pitching and a few clutch hits. Jacob deGrom was outstanding with a two hit shutout through eight innings with ten strikeouts to up his record to 9-6. The offense did their damage on eight hits and a base on balls with Eric Campbell going 2-4 with a long ball and two RBI’s and a pair of runs while every starter but one reached base. Rookie Noah Syndergaard opposes the Diamondbacks for the first time in his short career on Friday. Syndergaard has been rock steady in back to back outings with two runs scored on seven hits in 14 frames.
The over is 7-3-1 in Arizona’s last 11 overall and is 7-3-1 in their last 11 on grass while the Diamondbacks are 3-10 in Anderson’s last 13 road starts. The under is 8-2 in New York’s last 10 games following a win and is 7-2-3 in their last 12 Friday games while going 17-5 in the Mets last 22 overall. The under is 6-1-2 in the last nine meetings. I like the make up of both hurlers but the Mets at home have been money
