The Cleveland Indians battle the Oakland Athletics at Progressive Field in Sunday action.
The Oakland Athletics probably have aspirations of capturing the American League West but their play on the field says otherwise. The Athletics snapped a three game skid with a 5-4 win at Progressive Field Saturday. Starter Chris Bassitt held Cleveland to a pair of runs over 6.1 frames with the pen barely hanging on. The A’s logged ten hits and walked twice with Billy Butler smacking a two run double with Stephen Vogt and Josh Reddick scoring two times each. Ace Sonny Gray shoots for win number ten when he opposes the Indians on Sunday afternoon. Gray did well in his first time out after missing time with food poisoning with three runs scored in seven innings versus the Yankees.

The Cleveland Indians have been playing some of their best baseball over the last few weeks as they try to remain competitive in the American League Central. Despite Saturday’s defeat the Indians have still won seven of eleven they missed a chance to pick up a game in the American League Central. Carlos Carrasco gave up two runs over seven frames with Zach McAllister and Marc Rzepczynski allowing three more. The Tribe mustered eight hits and walked twice with Carlos Santana smacking a two run jack while Michael Brantley knocked in a run and scored.Corey Kluber looks for consecutive victories when he faces Oakland on Sunday. Kluber comes off of a 2-0 win against Houston with five hits and a pair of BB over 6.2 innings pitched.
Oakland are 7-3 in their last 10 road games and are 11-0 in Gray’s last 11 Sunday starts while the Athletics are 6-2 in Gray’s last 8 starts. The over is 12-5 in Cleveland’s last 17 Sunday games and the under is 8-3 in Klubers last 11 starts overall while the Indians are 5-13 in Kluber’s last 18 starts. The under is 33-16-2 in the last 61 meetings. Kluber has not gotten much support and hopefully Gray keeps it that way…
