The Tampa Bay Rays and the Toronto Blue Jays continue their series at the Rogers Centre on Saturday.
The Tampa Bay Rays are hoping for better things to come after a miserable slide knocked them from first in the American League East. The Rays saw their three game winning streak come to an end in Friday’s 6-2 defeat at the Rogers Centre. Jake Odorizzi was hit hard with all six runs allowed on six hits including a pair of bombs over 4.1 frames. The bats produced just two hits and walked three times with Grady Sizemore going deep while Logan Forsythe drove in Evan Longoria. Erasmo Ramirez draws the start in game two of their series with the Blue Jays on Saturday. Ramirez has won back to back contests with just two runs scored on seven hits and four BB over 12 innings.

The Toronto Blue Jays need to right the ship with a big run to kick off the second half of the season. The Blue Jays took a step in the right direction with Friday’s win but have still dropped eight of eleven. Starter Drew Hutchison improved to 9-2 with both runs allowed on five hits through six innings pitched. The Jays did their damage on six hits and six BB with Justin Smoak going deep and driving in three with two runs while Josh Donaldson homered and knocked in two. Knuckleballer RA Dickey makes his first start of the second half against Tampa Bay. Dickey comes off of a solid outing in a 2-0 loss to the White Sox where he gave up both runs on four hits and two free passes in seven frames.
The over is 8-1-1 in Tampa Bay’s last 10 road games and the under is 12-2 in their last 14 Saturday games while the over is 7-2-2 in the Rays last 11 games as an underdog. Toronto are 15-7 in their last 22 home games and are 17-8 in their last 25 games on astroturf. The over is 6-2-1 in Dickey’s last 9 starts vs. Tampa Bay and the Rays are 8-3 in the last 11 meetings. Toronto is better at home and Tampa Bay can’t get their bats going at times so I’m not thrilled with this…
