The Los Angeles Dodgers head to Turner Field to begin a weekend series with the Atlanta Braves.
The Los Angeles Dodgers sit atop the National League West and their focus is stretching their lead over San Francisco. The Dodgers continued to do their part with a 5-0 win at Washington on Sunday to give the team victories in seven of eleven. Zack Greinke continued to put up zeros with a three hit shutout over eight frames while striking out eleven. The LAD offense pounded out 14 hits and walked three times with Yasiel Puig knocking in two while Andre Ethier drove in a run and scored twice. Brandon Beachy makes his second start of the year against his former team the Atlanta Braves. Beachy dropped his first start 7-1 to Milwaukee with three runs plated on five hits over four frames.

The Atlanta Braves have been fading since before the All Star break and it’s now or never in turning things around. ‘Now’ will have to wait at least one more day following a 4-1 loss to visiting Chicago Sunday to saddle the Bravos with defeats in eight of eleven. Starter Shelby Miller was a tough luck loser with three runs allowed (one earned) on four hits and four BB through six frames. The bats logged five hits and walked four times with Andrelton Simmons doubling in Eury Perez in the 9th to avoid getting shutout. Rookie Matt Wisler is slated to be on the hill for the first time against the Dodgers. Wisler did not get a decision in a 3-2 loss at Colorado with two runs given up on six hits and three BB in six innings.
The over is 18-6-3 in the Dodgers last 27 Monday games and the under is 6-2 in their last 8 overall while Los Angeles are 6-2 in their last 8 games as a favorite. Atlanta are 9-3 in their last 12 home games and the over is 5-2-2 in their last 9 Monday games. Los Angeles are 10-2 in the last 12 meetings. The Dodgers are the better team but I’m not confident in Beachy as he comes back off of TJ surgery…
