The Seattle Mariners continue their series at the Motor City with the Detroit Tigers on Wednesday afternoon.
Time is beginning to run out on the Seattle Mariners who need wins in the worse way but caught in a slide. The Mariners had dropped four of five before outscoring Detroit 11-9 on Tuesday. Starter Taijuan Walker was charged with six runs over just 4.1 frames with three relievers allowing a run each. The M’s racked up 14 hits and walked five times with Nelson Cruz hitting his 22nd homer while Franklin Gutierrez connecting on a grand slam. Mike Montgomery takes the hill against the Detroit Tigers for the first time in his career. Montgomery comes off of a 4-3 road loss to the Yankees with three runs plated on seven hits while whiffing nine over six frames.

The main goal for the Detroit Tigers is to separate themselves from the .500 mark and then take aim at second place Minnesota in the American League Central. The Tigers lost a game in the standings with Tuesday’s defeat which featured struggling work on the mound. Starter Shane Greene was charged with five runs over 4.2 frames with Neftali Perez allowing five runs including an 8th inning grand slam. The Tigers pounded out 12 hits and walked five times with Yoenis Cespedes, Victor Martinez and Nick Castellanos cracking homers. Anibal Sanchez is slated to take the ball against the Mariners for the second time in 2015. Sanchez defeated Baltimore 7-3 with two runs given up on eight hits and a pair of BB over six frames.
The under is 12-3-1 in Seattle’s last 16 road games and is 23-8-3 in their last 34 Wednesday games. The over is 11-2 in Detroit’s last 13 home games while the over is 9-3-1 in the last 13 meetings in Detroit. I think backing either is risky business so I’ll back the better odds…
