The Oakland A’s and the Toronto Blue Jays face off on Wednesday in Oakland as they continue their MLB series.
The Oakland Athletics have had a rough season and it continued on Tuesday as they lost to the Blue Jays. Billy Burns and Brett Lawrie had two hits each and Ben Zobrist had a hit as the A’s scored one run on eight hits. Starting pitcher Kendall Graveman allowed six hits and six runs while striking out four over 5.1 innings to take the loss and fall to 6-6 for the season. The Toronto Blue Jays used the long ball to punish the A’s on Tuesday. Jose Bautista, Edwin Encarnacion, and Russell Martin each hit home runs as the Blue Jays scored seven runs on 10 hits. Starting pitcher Mark Buehrle allowed eight hits and a run while striking out three over 7.0 innings to get the win and raise his record to 11-5 for the season. For Wednesday’s game the Blue Jays start Felix Doubront who has allowed 19 hits and seven earned runs while striking out nine over 14 innings for a 1-0 record and a 4.50 ERA.
Oakland is 15-36 against a left-handed starter, 1-7 against the AL East, and 7-3 in Gray’s last 10 starts. Toronto is 8-1 against the AL West, 2-7 in game two of a series, and 1-7 following a win.
Toronto is the better team but I am not sure they have enough to get past the overwhelming mismatch on the mound so my play here is the A’s.
