The Detroit Tigers look to keep the runs flowing against the visiting Seattle Mariners on Thursday.
The Seattle Mariners just can’t string wins together and they need to soon or become an afterthought in the American League West. The Mariners issues continued with Wednesday’s 9-4 defeat at Detroit with starter Mike Montgomery charged with eight runs (six earned) over just 2.2 frames. The M’s logged eleven hits and walked four times with Nelson Crus going 3-5 with a pair of long balls and three RBI’s while Mark Trumbo knocked in a run. Hisashi Iwakuma shoots for his third consecutive win when he opposed the Tigers on Thursday. Iwakuma comes off of a 4-3 win at the Yankees where he gave up two runs on five hits in 5.2 frames.

The Detroit Tigers are just trying to string a few wins together and get some momentum to at least challenge in the American League Central. The Tigers have now won two of three which they hope is the beginning of something much bigger. Anibal Sanchez was okay with all four runs given up on nine hits including a pair of homers through 6.2 innings to get the win. The Tigers racked up 13 hits with five BB with Nick Castellanos going yard and driving in four. Rajai Davis and Ian Kinsler each scored twice as every starter scored or drove in a run. Left hander David Price toes the rubber in Thursday’s outing against visiting Seattle on Thursday. Price was a 3-0 loser to Baltimore despite allowing a run over seven innings while striking out 12.
Miami are 2-8 in their last 10 Wednesday games and are 2-8 in their last 10 games on grass while going 7-19 in their last 26 overall. The over is 10-3-1 in the last 14 meetings in Detroit. The Tigers really need a win here and if price doesn’t get it done I the Tigers could be in trouble…
