The Baltimore Orioles and New York Yankees conclude their series in the Big Apple on Thursday.
The Baltimore Orioles can’t get their offense and pitching on the same page and are fading. The Orioles continued to struggle in Wednesday’s 4-3 defeat to the Yankees for their 9th loss in eleven contests. Starter Kevin Gausman gave up all four runs on six hits including a pair of homers over six frames. The Birds posted four hits and walked three times with Ryan Flaherty mashing a two run bomb while Chris Davis went solo in the 9th. The Orioles turn to Ubaldo Jimenez for the start in the final game of the series with the Yankees. Jimenez struggled mightily in an 11-3 loss at Detroit last time out with seven runs scored with three homers allowed in 4.2 frames.

The New York Yankees don’t have the huge lead in the American League East but they look like the best team by a large margin. The surging Yankees keep getting the job done with Wednesday’s win being their 9th in eleven games. Starter Ivan Nova was charged with two runs on three hits and a trio of BB through six innings to pick up the win. The bats totaled seven hits and two free passes with Mark Teixeira going deep and driving in two with Alex Rodriguez going solo. Masahiro Tanaka takes to the hill in the final game of the series against visiting Baltimore. Tanaka comes off of a 4-3 victory against Seattle where he gave up all three runs on five hits and two BB over seven innings.
Baltimore are 4-10 in their last 14 overall and are 4-10 in their last 14 games on grass while going 11-5 in their last 16 games as an underdog. The under is 15-5-1 in New York’s last 21 overall and is 15-5-1 in their last 21 on grass while the Yankees are 19-7 in their last 26 home games. If Jimenez is on he is a tough customer but I’ll back the hotter squad…
