The Colorado Rockies host the Cincinnati Reds in game two of their series at Coors Field.
I think the Cincinnati Reds know they won’t be challenging in the National League Central and that means trading away some of their stars. The Reds dropped their second straight in Friday’s 6-5 loss at Coors Field where the work on the mound struggled. Starter Anthony DeSclafani gave up three runs in seven frames with JJ Hoover allowing two for a BS while Ryan Mattheus took the loss. The bats totaled ten hits and walked five times with Joey Votto going deep while Ivan DeJesus drove in a pair. Johnny Cueto is scheduled to oppose the Rockies at Coors Field on Saturday. Cueto is looking to bounce back from a 5-3 loss to visiting Cleveland with two runs scored on four hits and six BB over four frames.

It looks like it’s going to be another long year for the Colorado Rockies who are in the role of spoiler. The Rockies had lost four of five before winning Friday with the offense coming up big. Starter Eddie Butler gave up three runs through six frames before LaTroy Hawkins and John Axford gave up a run each. The Rockies totaled eleven hits and two free passes with Carlos Gonzalez cracking a pair of solo bombs. Charlie Blackmon drove in a run and scored while every starter but one reached base. The Rockies look to Christopher Rusin for Saturday’s outing against visiting Cincinnati. Rusin has been outstanding in his last five starts with ten runs allowed on 35 hits in 30 innings.
Cincinnati are 1-10 in their last 11 Saturday games and the over is 6-2 in their last 8 games as a road favorite while the Reds are 25-58 in their last 83 road games. Colorado are 6-18 in their last 24 games as an underdog. The Reds are 7-19 in the last 26 meetings in Colorado. I think I’d take a small shot on the home dog but I will update…
