The Toronto Blue Jays scored early on Friday but it wasn’t enough as they lost to the Mariners. Jose Bautista hit a home run and Jose Reyes and Edwin Encarnacion each had two hits as the Blue Jays scored two runs on seven hits. Starting pitcher Marco Eastrada allowed eight hits and five runs while striking out four over 4.0 innings tot take the loss and fall to 7-6 for the season. For Saturday’s game the Blue Jays start Drew Hutchison who has been scratched from the last two days starts but for the season has allowed 121 hits and 60 earned runs while striking out 94 over 104 innings for a 9-2 record and a 5.19 ERA.
Seattle is 2-5 in their last seven games as an underdog, 5-1 in game two of a series, and 1-8 in Happ’s last nine starts. Toronto is 4-1 as a favorite, 2-8 in game two of a series, and 6-2 in Hutchison’s last eight road starts. Toronto is 0-5 in their last five games in Seattle.
Hutchison has not been a good road pitcher and I look for the Mariners to get the best of him.
