The St Louis Cardinals conclude their series with the Atlanta Braves in Sunday afternoon action.
The Atlanta Braves have been fading a bit over the past few weeks and with Saturday’s 1-0 loss at St Louis they have dropped eight of eleven. The pitching was outstanding but the offense couldn’t help. Starter Shelby Miller gave up the lone run on two hits and a pair of free passes over 7.1 frames which was still a losing effort to drop him to 5-7. The Bravos mustered seven hits and walked once with Jace Peterson and AJ Pierzynski going 2-4 but four double plays did them in. Rookie Matt Wisler shoots for back to back wins when he takes the hill against the Cardinals for the first time. Wisler defeated the Dodgers last time out 7-5 with four runs allowed on eight hits over six innings.

The St Louis are back to their winning ways which is bad news for the rest of the National League Central. The Cardinals have won seven of eight after downing the Braves 1-0 on Saturday. It was all pitching for the Redbirds with starter Carlos Martinez tossing a six hit shutout through eight innings to up his record to 11-4. The bats logged a mere two hits and walked twice with Stephen Piscotty connecting on a sacrifice fly to score pinch runner Pete Kozma in the 8th inning. Michael Wacha looks to straighten out the kinks when he opposes the Braves for the first time. Wacha has given up ten runs on eleven hits and three bases on balls over eleven innings of work.
The under is 20-6-1 in Alanta’s last 27 overall and is 20-6-1 in their last 27 on grass while the Braves are 5-16 in their last 21 road games. The under is 8-2-1 in the Cardinals last 11 Sunday games and is 7-2-1 in their last 10 games as a favorite while St Louis are 50-15 in their last 65 home games. Atlanta are 2-6 in the last 8 meetings in St. Louis and the under is 10-4 in the last 14 meetings. Not much to go on as both hurlers have been iffy so I’ll back the hot team…
