The Baltimore Orioles look to rediscover their offense against the Atlanta Braves Tuesday night.
The Atlanta Braves aren’t going to win the National League East but reaching .500 would be a solid accomplishment. That goal took a step in the wrong direction in Monday’s 2-1, eleven inning loss at Camden Yards. Starter Alex Wood tossed a three hit shutout over seven frames with Jim Johnson allowing a 9th inning run for a BS before Luis Avilian served up a walk off bomb in the 11th to take the loss. The Bravos totaled nine hits and walked once with Adonis Garcia cracking a solo homer in the 9th for a short lived lead. Right hander Julio Teheran takes the bump for the first time ever against the Orioles. Teheran looks to get back in the win column after a 3-1 loss to the Dodgers where he gave up three runs on six hits with eleven K’s in seven frames.

The Baltimore Orioles have got to get hot and stay hot if they expect to capture another American League East crown. The Orioles have now won three in a row and need to stay on a roll after outlasting the Braves on Monday night. Starter Kevin Gausman was outstanding with 7.2 scoreless innings with closer Zach Britton surrendering a solo jack in the 9th. The bats managed seven hits and four walks with JJ Hardy driving in Adam Jones in the 9th to force extra innings with Matt Weiters capping off a three hit night with a walk off homer in the 11th. Ubaldo Jimenez will be looking to right the ship against the Braves in Tuesday action. Jimenez has been hit hard in back to back defeats with 14 runs plated on 15 hits over seven innings.
Atlanta are 1-7 in their last 8 road games while the under is 13-3 in their last 16 road games and 22-6-1 in the Braves last 29 on grass. Baltimore are 4-12 in their last 16 games on grass and are 6-13 in their last 19 overall while going 10-1 in Jimenez’s last 11 home starts. Jimenez and the Orioles do win at home although my confidence isn’t that high…
