The Seattle Mariners and the Arizona Diamondbacks face off on Tuesday in game two of their MLB interleague series.
The Seattle Mariners battled back in the ninth inning on Monday to tie the game and get it to extra innings but in the end they came up short losing to the Diamondbacks. Robinson Cano hit a home run, Mark Trumbo had three hits, and Nelson Cruz had a hit as the Mariners scored three runs on nine hits. Starting pitcher Mike Montgomery allowed five hits and three runs, two earned, while striking out five over 6.2 innings to not get a decision as Carson Smith took the loss. Starting pitcher Robbie Ray allowed six hits and two runs while striking out eight over 7.0 innings to not get a decision as Oliver Perez got the win and Andrew Chafin earned the save. For Tuesday’s game the Diamondbacks start Zack Godley who allowed four hits while striking out seven over 6.0 scoreless innings getting the win over the Brewers in his only Major League start.
Seattle is 5-2 in game two of a series, 6-15 in their last 21 interleague home games against a right-handed starter, and 7-2 in Iwakuma’s last nine starts against a team with losing record. Arizona is 6-2 against the AL West, 6-2 in their last eight interleague games, and 0-4 in game two of a series. Arizona is 3-8 in their last 11 games against Seattle.
The total is set at 7.5 and I expect runs to be tough to come by so my free pick is the under. My stronger play is on the winning team and I will post that in the Premium Area as well as on the app.
