The Texas Rangers and the New York Yankees face off on Wednesday in Arlington as they continue their MLB series.
The Texas Rangers had a big first inning on Tuesday but the elation was short lived as they were crushed by the Yankees. Elvis Andrus, Ryan Rua, and Shin-Soo Choo each had hits as the Rangers scored five runs on three hits. Starting pitcher Martin Perez allowed seven hits and eight runs while striking out one lasting just an inning to take the loss and fall to 0-2 for the season. For Wednesday’s game the Rangers start Colby Lewis who has allowed 125 hits and 63 earned runs while striking out 96 over 126.1 innings for a 10-4 record and a 4.49 ERA.

The New York Yankees came out swinging on Tuesday as they slaughtered the Rangers in Arlington. Brett Gardner and Chris Young hit home runs and Didi Gregorius had four hits as the Yankees scored 21 runs on 19 hits. Starting pitcher Chris Capuano allowed three hits and five runs last just 0.2 innings to not get a decision as Diego Moreno got the win. For Wednesday’s game the Yankees start Masahiro Tanaka who has allowed 66 hits and 33 earned runs while striking out 81 over 81.2 innings for a 7-3 record and a 3.64 ERA.
Texas is 12-6 against the AL East, 1-9 at home against a right-handed starter, and 6-14 in Lewis’ last 20 home starts. New York is 8-1 in their last nine games, 6-1 against the American League West, and 4-1 in Tanaka’s last five road starts. New York is 2-4 in their last six meetings with Texas.
I am expecting less scoring but I like the over that is set at 8.5 runs. My stronger pick is on the winning team and I will post that in the Premium Area as well as on the App.
