The New York Yankees look to get back in the win column at the Texas Rangers on Thursday.
The red hot New York Yankees haven’t been tasting defeat very often with wins in eight of eleven heading in to Wednesday’s tilt at Texas. They got a rare taste in a 5-2 defeat with both the arms and bats coming up short. Mashiro Tanaka did not have his best stuff with four runs plated on nine hits and a trio of bases on balls. That was too much for the Bronx Bombers eight hit attack that featured a solo jack off the bat of Carlos Beltran while Jacoby Ellsbury singled in Didi Gregorius. Michael Pineda draws his second start of the season against the Rangers. Pineda has struggled the past two times out wit a combined nine runs scored on 14 hits over 11.2 innings pitched.

With the Texas Rangers working on a trade to bring Cole Hamels to town they obviously believe they have a shot at winning the West. The Rangers are hoping Wednesday’s win will be a positive start going forward with both the bats and arms on the same page. Colby Lewis was outstanding with both runs allowed on seven hits through six innings to get the win. The Rangers pounded out eleven hits and walked four times with Josh Hamilton going 2-4 with a pair of RBI’s and a run with Adrian Beltre logging two hits and scoring twice. Veteran Yovani Gallardo hopes for a reversal of fortunes when he takes the hill versus the Yankees. In his last two times out Gallardo has allowed ten runs on 15 hits and six BB over eight frames.
New York are 16-5 in their last 21 overall and are 16-5 in their last 21 games on grass while going 19-7 in their last 26 games as a favorite. The under is 6-0-2 in Texas last 8 Thursday games while the Rangers are 3-13 in their last 16 home games and the over is 10-4 in their last 14 games as an underdog. The under is 7-2-2 in the last 11 meetings in Texas and is 12-4-1 in the last 17 meetings. I’m going with the home team but it’s really a toss up…
