The Oakland A’s and the Cleveland Indians face off on Friday in Oakland in game two of their MLB series.
The Oakland A’s had no answers on Thursday as they dropped game one of their series with the Indians. Billy Burns and Josh Reddick each had hits and Brett Lawrie reached via walk as the A’s failed to score on their two hits. Starting pitcher Chris Bassitt allowed six hits and three runs while striking out six over 7.0 innings to take the loss and fall to 0-4 for the season. For Friday’s game the A’s start Kendall Graveman who has allowed 99 hits and 41 earned runs while striking out 57 over 89.1 innings for a 6-7 record and a 4.13 ERA.

The Cleveland Indians did all of their scoring on Thursday in the first inning but it was enough to get it done and get the win. Carlos Santana hit a home run, Francisco Lindor had two hits, and Michael Brantley had a hit and scored a run as the Indians scored three runs on seven hits. Starting pitcher Carlos Carrasco allowed two hits and a run while striking out seven for a complete game shutout win to raise his record to 11-8. For Friday’s game the Indians start Danny Salazar who has allowed 95 hits and 46 earned runs while striking out 132 over 111.1 innings for an 8-6 record and a 3.72 ERA.
Oakland is 1-7 in their last eight games, 0-6 against a right handed starter, and 0-4 in Graveman’s last four starts when their opponent allows two or less runs in their previous game. Cleveland is 5-1 in their last six road games, 6-2 against the AL West, and 6-1 in Salazar’s last seven road starts against a team with a losing record. Cleveland is 3-5 in the last eight meetings of these two.
The total is set at 7.0 and while the bsts were quiet on Thursday, look for them to make some noise here as the number here is just too low.
