The Arizona Diamondbacks look to cool off the surging Houston Astros at Minute Maid Park.
The Arizona Diamondbacks are as hot as they have been but they need to stay that way to have a chance at the postseason. The Diamondbacks saw their six game hot streak come to an end in a 9-2 loss at Minute Maid Park Saturday. Jeremy Hellickson was tagged for seven runs (six earned) on seven hits including three homers over 3.1 frames with Josh Collmenter giving up two runs in 4.2 innings. The offense stalled on two hits and four walks with Ender Inciarte and Jarrod Saltalamacchia driving in runs. The Diamondbacks hand the ball to Robbie Ray for the start in the series finale’ versus Houston. Ray threw the ball well in a 4-3 win at Seattle with two runs allowed on six hits over seven frames.

The Houston Astros have regrouped nicely to retake first place first from the Angels in the American League West. The Astros picked up a game in the standings with Saturday’s win for their 8th win in eleven contests. Dallas Keuchel limited the Diamondbacks to both runs on two hits and three free passes through six innings. Carlos Correa paced the offense with a pair of long balls with three RBI’s while Hank Conger went 3-4 with a pair of runs and five runs driven in. The Astros send Collin McHugh out to oppose the Diamondbacks for the first time in 2015. McHugh struggled in a 10-5 win versus the Angels with five runs given up on five hits and four BB in five innings.
The over is 10-1 in Houston’s last 11 interleague games while the Astros are 8-2 in their last 10 games as a favorite and 8-3 in their last 11 overall. Arizona are 8-2 in the last 10 meetings in Houston and are 22-7 in the last 29 meetings. I’m a bit worried about the juice but I’ll take the hot home squad…
