The battle for Los Angeles continues with the Angels visiting the Dodgers on Sunday afternoon.
The Los Angeles Angels have not been playing well and the result has them dropping to second in the American League West. The Angels have dropped eight of nine following a 3-1 loss to the Dodgers on Saturday as the bats were silent and spoiled decent pitching. Andrew Heaney absorbed the loss with a pair of runs allowed on four hits and a pair of BB over 5.1 frames. The bats mustered four singles and two bases on balls and didn’t threaten until they put two runners on base in the 9th with Albert Pujols driving in David Murphy. With CJ Wilson lost for the season the Angels have yet to name a starter for this game and might be a one where several relievers throw.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have to keep winning with San Francisco ready to take over the National League West lead if they falter. The Dodgers have held up their end of the bargain lately with three consecutive victories following Saturday’s win. The offense didn’t pound the ball but didn’t need to with Clayton Kershaw being dominant once again. Kershaw tossed a two hit shutout through eight innings to pick up the win while Yasmani Grandal went 3-4 with a two run bomb while Scott Van Slyke rapped an RBI single during a three run 6th.Newly acquired Mats Latos toes the rubber for the first time with the Dodgers. Overall Latos has gone 4-7 with a 4.48 ERA in 16 outings with a 1.25 WHIP as he has battled some injuries this season.
The under is 9-4 in the Angels last 13 interleague games. The Dodgers are 7-2 in their last 9 interleague home games and are 15-6 in their last 21 Sunday games while going 9-4 in their last 13 interleague games. The under is 6-2 in the last 8 meetings. I’m not a big fan of Latos and don’t think he will star for the Dodgers so I will sit this one out… Note-Rasmus starting for Angels?
